Task Overview: You make visitors feel welcome and help ensure they leave satisfied with their visit and feeling as though they’ve learned something about the Creston Valley. By showing them around the Museum, answering questions, telling stories about the community and the objects on display, you really bring local history to life and help the Creston Museum stand out. If you have a heritage skill or craft that you can demonstrate, that adds to the experience! Quite often, you get to hear the stories visitors tell, too!
Job Type: Seasonal, Ongoing
Suitable for: Individuals, High School Students, Job Sharing
Schedule: The Museum is open daily, 10:00 – 5:00, from mid-May to mid-September. We’re looking for people who can help out for full or half-days once a week for some or all of those weeks. We can accommodate variable schedules! Periodic scheduling for events and large groups is also possible.
Requirements: A very strong ability to converse with people of different ages and backgrounds is good – or, if you’re looking for a way to overcome shyness or nerves about public speaking, this will definitely help!. Knowledge of local history definitely helps, but it’s not required – we can give you all the information you need. Come in a few days before your first shift to get an orientation tour and a two-page outline of the Museum’s exhibits.
